Surely you know the credo for everything around the road bike: light, aerodynamic, efficient. Why should road bike shoes deviate from that? Like any other accessory designed for use on a road bike, the shoes for road bikers primarily serve to build up speed. All other features have to be subordinated to that. The right shoes are probably one of the most important factors when riding a road bike. They connect you with the bike and translate the power from your legs to the drive on the bike. For this reason, you don't have to think twice about investing in a pair of high-quality road bike shoes. The shoes usually come with practical velcro or twist closures, so there is no annoying dangling of laces, which can also get caught in the chainring and lead to a fall. In an aerodynamically cut shoe you can go to the start and chase new records. In classic road cycling, triathlon or time trial, clipless pedals are almost exclusively used, mostly the LOOK Kéo and Speedplay Peadalsystem are used here. The biggest difference between MTB and road shoes is probably the stiffness of the sole. Carbon soles are often used for optimum power transmission. This makes it clear that a road bike shoe is only made for cycling and not for walking. However, despite the hard sole, the upper shoe should fit comfortably on the foot. In order to avoid annoying pressure points, blisters and the associated pain, you should pay close attention to how the shoe fits. In our shop you will find different cuts and sizes. LOOK Kéo pedal system
The peculiarity of Look's own system is that there are three different plates for different freedom of movement. These are red, grey and black. The Look Kéo is mostly used in the road bike sector and is very popular there. Mostly riders choose a very firm version to allow a "clean and round" kick.
Speedplay peadal system
This system, which is mainly used in time trials and triathlon, also has different cleats ready. Here, too, the differences lie in the freedom of movement.
