A new bike is always good, but you do not want to buy a 08/15 bike off the rack? Your individual dream bike should consist of hand-picked individual parts that fit perfectly to your bike plans? Then you're in the right place, because the best hand builds start with the right frame. Here you will find bike frames in different frame sizes for MTB, fixie or road bike. But which frame fits you?
MTB frames - A lot of options
.
No area of cycling offers you as much scope as mountain biking. In order to do justice to the many possible areas of use, we also stock mountain bike frames for special purposes in addition to fixie and singlespeed frames. We offer hardcore MTB frames for freeride, dirt and downhill as well as lightweight enduro frames. Depending on the intended use and your preferences, you only have to decide between an unsuspended and a suspended mountain bike. The MTB hardtail frames impress with a very direct handling with good everyday suitability.
Fullsuspension frames
For really hard downhill and freeride action, your bike has to be able to hold its speed in a stable manner and absorb the impact of jumps. Downhill frames in 26 inches, as well as DH frames with suspension in 27.5 inches, are great for this.
A lot of reserves in the border area offers you a MTB-Fully in 29 inch or the 27.5 inch-Fully frames. For tours with alternating ascents and descents are particularly suitable all-mountain frames, which offer an optimal compromise between weight and downhill capability. Enduro frames cover another spectrum of downhill-oriented mountain biking. These all-rounders offer a good propulsion in the uphill but also a lot of fun on downhill passages.
Hardtail frames
In this category you will find on the one hand cross-country frames but especially bike frames for dirt bikes. The frames are available for all common wheel sizes such as 26 inches, 27.5 inches, 28 inches and 29 inches. If you are looking for a dirt jump frame, you will definitely find what you are looking for in the 26 inch hardtails. The wheel size with cult status promises maximum manoeuvrability and offers special advantages for technically demanding tricks in the air. For touring riders, you will also find cross-country hardtail frames for 27.5 inch and 29 inch wheels in our online shop. The particularly stiff wheels and the touring-oriented frame geometry offer the best support for the rider for long tours.
Fixie and singlespeed frames
Not only are these bikes all the rage in big cities, but they're also amazingly fun and efficient to ride. No unnecessary bells and whistles that put pressure on the weight and the simple reduced mechanics of these impressive singlespeed bikes make them a personal companion on all city trails or bike tours. The selection of special fixie frames in our shop also has the right size and color for you.
What should you look out for when buying a frame?
When deciding on a new bike frame, the area of use and the type of bike play a decisive role. Are you offroad or on the road? Do you want a sporty mountain bike or a stylish city bike? If you decide on a mountain bike, you can also choose between a full-suspension frame or a hardtail. Here, the area of use is also decisive. For rough trails with big jumps and technically demanding root fields, we recommend a fully suspended frame. If you are a mileage collector and especially enjoy sweaty uphill sections, a hardtail is the better choice.
Once you've found the right type, it's time to get down to the details. Frame size and wheel size must be determined. The frame size is specifically based on your individual body size. The common designations are S, M, L and XL. We cannot give you a general recommendation here. However, most manufacturers offer a size chart for their products. Occasionally, there is also a recommendation for the respective bike frame in the product descriptions or in the tests of leading bike magazines.
The wheel size is on the one hand about your individual preferences but also about agility and smoothness. The bigger the wheel, the smoother it rides over rough terrain. The advantage of small wheel sizes like 26 inches, is agility and maneuverability. Things can get hectic on chocky trails with such small wheels.
There can also be advantages and disadvantages to choosing the right material. Bike frames come in steel, aluminum, and carbon. Each material offers properties that the other does not. Steel is especially strong and sturdy. Dirt jump bikes and fixies rely on the low-maintenance but heavy material. Carbon is particularly stiff and light. However, a bike frame made of carbon requires special care, the material is a bit more sensitive than the others. Aluminium settles in the middle. It is lighter than steel and heavier than carbon. Aluminum frames are also in the easy-to-care-for middle range in terms of robustness. This material is currently the most widely used in frame construction.
The most important questions for the frame purchase in brief:
- Where is the area of use: city or forest?
- Which bike genre do you want: City bike or mountain bike?
- What frame size do you need?
- How big should the wheels be?
- What material should the frame be made of?
In our online shop we offer you a wide range of different products such as mountain bike frames with suspension, hardtail frames as well as fixie and singlespeed frames and much more.
