High-quality bike grips ensure a good grip feeling and best control over your bike in all situations. The handlebar grip is the interface to the bike handlebar and has to give you just as much grip in wet conditions as in summer with sweaty hands. However, not all grips are the same. The supposedly simple bike parts make for big differences in ergonomics and feel.
What to look for when buying new bike grips
The right ergonomics
For long rides or if you generally feel your fingers tingling quickly or your hand hurts or goes numb, you should look at ergonomically designed bike grips. With a larger contact area for the palm of your hand, this handlebar grip makes for a much more comfortable riding experience.
Who doesn't know it, the numb feeling of hands falling asleep? The culprit is usually an incorrect sitting posture and the choice of unsuitable bicycle grips. Ergonomic grips with a specially developed palm rest promise more comfort for long tours. Thanks to the rubberized pads in appropriately shaped ball pads, they not only increase the grip feeling, but also provide lasting pain prevention. Various damping zones in the core of the rubber body additionally absorb the shocks from the handlebar and protect the wrist. As with the Lock-On grips, the ergo grips are screwed to the handlebar tube with an aluminium clamp. This ensures a tight fit and excellent steering precision. The material makes the difference

These noble materials can be used to set great accents on simple cafe racers, for example. Even those who are looking for the right splashes of color for their fixieor BMX will definitely find what they are looking for, because we carry plastic grips in many color variations.
Which type is the right one, what are the differences between Lock-On grips and Co.
The problem of slipping and twisted grips has come to an end with the installation of Lock-On grips on the handlebar. Lock-On grips are now available from almost all manufacturers and in a variety of diameters, lengths and colors. The advantage over standard grips is that the grip body under the grip rubber sleeve must be firmly screwed to the handlebar tube. The grips usually have a plastic core, through which they are very easy to plug and place on the handlebar ends. Thus, the perfect grip position can be found by slightly turning the grips. Once the correct grip position is screwed in, the grips are firmly screwed with an aluminum clamp on the inside of the grip, or with two aluminum clamps on the inner edge and on the end of the handlebar.
For mountain bikers, lock-on grips are particularly advantageous. They offer you a very secure feeling, because the bike handle should not only fit well in your hand, but also sit bombproof on the handlebar. Lock-on grips or screw-on grips are of course a good choice, as they can be fixed without any problems. The rubber grip is pulled onto a plastic shell, which can be tightened and fixed to the handlebar by means of two screws. Another advantage is the fact that they are logically much easier to remove or replace than conventional bike grips. Moreover, you can align the grips precisely thanks to the easy mounting and fixing. This is especially important for lock-on grips with a slightly ergonomic shape, as this is the only way to offer a full grip and a supportive ergonomic effect for your wrists and balls of your hands.
With normal bike grips, the mounting is often the problem. To slide the grip completely onto the handlebars, you either need a lot of force or you use a liquid to make the grip slide better. Here the problem arises that the liquid between the grip rubber and handlebars but must also escape again, so that the handle sits firmly.
A type of grip particularly suitable for the road bike, gravel bike and cyclocrosser is the handlebar tape. Since the handlebars on such bikes are usually curved, a normal grip would be impossible to fit and also insufficient to cover the entire grip area of the handlebars. This is where the handlebar tape comes into play. The handlebar tape is basically available in two different variations. Firstly, it can be glued, for which purpose there is an adhesive strip on the underside of the tape. The handlebar tape must then be wrapped around the handlebar piece by piece and should always overlap by a few millimeters. Alternatively, there is also handlebar tape made of silicone, which due to its material properties does not require an adhesive strip. The great advantage of this is that mistakes made when wrapping do not have any consequences and you can simply start again with it. Also, this handlebar tape is easy to clean under the tap and does not lose its properties. It can be re-tied over and over again. We offer you the suitable handlebar tapes from the leading manufacturers in our online shop.

The proper installation of new bike grips
When mounting, depending on the handlebar and handlebar material (aluminum or carbon), you should follow the torque specifications of the manufacturer. The best way to do this is to use a torque wrench. Modern bicycle grips often have a certain ergonomics and shape, which can only develop the potential if the grip is mounted and aligned precisely. With lock-on grips, this is easily possible. Due to the easy assembly and the resulting perfect alignment, these bike grips offer you great advantages.
