Description
The Minion SS combines the cornering grip of a grippy enduro tire with the roll of a fast XC tire. Small, ramped lugs in the center are framed by the universally loved and praised Minion side lugs. This combination creates a fast rolling tire with an angular shape that digs into loose surfaces. Perfect for modern enduro racing with long descents and longer climbs.
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there's no tube, the risk of punctures goes down, too. Maxxis TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other "Tubeless Ready" tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer, just like a real UST tubeless tire. This makes tubeless mounting on all rims with standard dimensions already successful with the first inflation and with little liquid. Also "normal" Maxxis MTB tires can be mounted tubeless with sealant like tires of other manufacturers, because the carcass fabrics are very dense. Officially approved for tubeless mounting and guaranteed by Maxxis, however, are only the new Maxxis TR models.
Doubledown tires are built like Maxxis downhill tires: two carcass plies reinforced with a butyl insert in the sidewall. However, with two 120 TPI (instead of 60TPI) carcass plies and aramid bead, they are significantly lighter than downhill tires, much stronger and more robust than TR + EXO tires, making them ideal for tough enduro courses.
With the Dual Compound compound, two different rubber compounds are processed into one tread strip. The arrangement of the compounds is planned according to the desired characteristics of the tires.
