Can I buy bike parts online that fit my bike? Absolutely yes! Bicycle parts are only for professionals? No, that's not true! Most bike enthusiasts grab a monkey wrench at some point. First, you give your soggy mountain bike a good clean after a particularly muddy ride. Next, you attach a new drop bar, or you fit replacement tube into your touring bike’s tires for the first time. Then you tackle changing the brake pads or upgrading to tubeless tires - and with this you’ve entered the beautiful universe of bike mechanics!
We have all kinds of bike parts for you in our online store - you can make your road bike faster, prepare your touring bike with more durable parts for a big tour or increase your mountain bike’s abilities with new shocks or a fork with a lot of travel. You can also order components for individual hand builds and spare parts for repairs or the next tune-up.
MTB parts - spare parts and accessories
You will find a huge selection of mountain bike accessories to make your bike even better, more beautiful and faster! Whether you need MTB spare parts or want to pimp your bike, you will definitely find here what you've been looking for. Just swap some parts and adapt your ride perfectly to your needs.
Less weight for more riding fun
You will see, with a lighter MTB frame, you will not only go further, you’ll also get faster. Many manufacturers make their bike parts lighter from season to season, MTB brands make no exception. Especially all those huge steps in the construction of carbon bike parts have helped to actually redefine mountain biking! For a long time, bicycle frames and components made of carbon were simply not durable enough for slopes, trail riding and all those tricks that put a lot of impact on the material. But that has changed during the last few years. Today, downhill bikes, trail bikes or XC mountain bikes are made from the super-light fibers and weigh significantly less than older models, despite all those shocks, dropper posts and suspension forks. Still, of course, a hardtail is significantly lighter than a fully suspended bike!
The very latest trend are 1x drivetrains. Fewer gears mean less weight and less maintenance, but they still offer a wide range of speeds that can handle any mountain bike adventure.
Perfect mountain bike accessories for a better performance
By replacing your MTB’s fork, you take a quite decisive step towards a better performance. It will not only ride better on the trail and make you faster, it also increases safety on the road. You can also exchange the frame shock, more travel always equals more possibilities.
Your bike has surprised you by losing a couple of teeth? Wear and tear on the drivetrain is quite normal, at some point you’ll need to replace those bike parts. You can order all the spare parts for the drive train such as cogs, bashguards, a new cassette, or chainrings and derailleurs right here on Bike Mailorder. If the chain likes to clang down on the chain stay or repeatedly jumps off the chainring, you can tame it with the chain tensioners or chain guides that you find amongst our MTB accessories! Even small changes can achieve great improvements – try mounting non-slip grips that give you perfect control over your bike. A wider handlebar and a new headset allow you to control your steed perfectly on rough trails.
If you’re new to bike tuning, try replacing your MTB tires or tubes. You’ll be surprised what difference some new hoops can make! No matter if you’re limited to 27,5 or 29 inch tires, or if your frame allows you to take your pick or ride a mullet setup, we’re happy to outfit you with new rubber.
MTB tuning at a glance:
- a suspension fork with more travel makes your bike off-road capable and air-time-ready
- a suspension fork with less travel or lockout makes your bike more efficient and faster
- wider tires with lots of tread pattern give your bike more grip, but also swallow a watt or two of your pedaling power
- narrower tires with less tread make you faster
- a wide range gear shift adapts your bike to different surfaces and up/downhill
- wider handlebars give you better control over your mountain bike
- some mountain bikes can be ridden with 27.5 inch or 29 inch wheels.
- It’s easier to cover large distances on bigger wheels, smaller tires make your bike more agile and playful
- Change from tube to tubeless and save yourself the trouble of bringing spare tubes in the future
You will find mountain bike parts made by the best manufacturers on this planet on Bike Mailorder, just browse our SRAM, Magura or Race Face brand stores, there you will find everything your biker’s heart desires.
Lightweight and aerodynamic bike parts for road bikes and gravel bikes
Bike parts for road bikes must meet one requirement above all: They must be light, lighter, the lightest. When it comes to frames for road bikes and other road bike parts, every gram counts; a complete road bike should weigh no more than a few kilograms. If a new road bike isn't in your budget right now, you can make your existing bike not only lighter, but more comfortable or faster with new components.
The concern with every gratuitous gram was one of the reasons road cyclists have long refused to mount rotor brakes on road bikes. Disc brakes always weigh a little more than comparable rim brakes and were therefore a real no-go! But ever since disc brakes have been allowed in professional racing, they have become a common sight on road bikes.
By the way, our large selection of road bike parts is also perfect if you want to update your gravel bike or cyclocross bike, because these two types of bikes are mostly equipped with road bike parts.
Cyclocross bikes were created for bike racing in foul weather and mud, cyclocross bikes are equipped with heavy-duty bike parts that withstand the nasty abrasion caused by a wet and dirty drive train, they also survive the strain of shorter races at top speeds. This combination calls for the most durable components out there.
Gravel bikes, on the other hand, were invented to make road bikes suitable for everyday use. Commuting and bikepacking were part of the plan, so the geometry and all the components must be suitable for long term use. Compared to road handlebars, gravel drop bars are wider and have some flare (the ends point sideways), which allows more control over the bike even in challenging terrain.
If you plan longer tours on your gravel bike, you should individualize it with bike components that fit you perfectly and that let you pedal comfortably for hours. A new saddle, a longer or shorter stem or some new cork tape on your handlebar can work wonders! For further comfort, you can check out our bike accessories, where you'll find racks, low-riders or mudguards to accompany you around the globe.
Road bike tuning at a glance:
- There's really only one piece of advice: make it lighter! (But there’s nothing wrong with making your bike more comfortable, too)
- But before you unpack the kitchen scales, here's one more tip: every year, new bike components appear on the market; every year, they become lighter and also more efficient. If you buy road bike parts or gravel components released recently by Shimano, Easton or SQlab, it’s safe to assume that you are not lugging around unnecessary weight. If you want to save money rather than weight, buy the parts that have been introduced last season, they often come considerably cheaper.
- Especially with road bike parts, the magic word is of course carbon. Carbon is light, but also not exactly cheap. But if a particularly lightweight bike is your goal, it's worth the investment!
Single Speed and fixie parts - individual parts for your bike!
Riding a fixie or single speed bike is more than just a hobby! With those bikes you express your philosophy of life and your way of thinking. You like things simple, down to earth and prefer to concentrate on the essentials! You want to be able to rely on your bike at any time, and don’t like to get caught up in bullsh***! Still, you like things to have a personal touch. In our online store, you will find many parts for single speed bikes and accessories that make your bike even more individual. If you strip your bike down to the mere essentials, it’s worthwhile to buy only the best quality, that’s why you can order only the best singlespeed and fixie parts here!
The best parts for your singlespeed conversion
With the parts from our store you can pimp and upgrade (or, in this case downgrade) your bike to your heart's content. We have lots of single speed and fixed gear parts such as cranks and single speed wheels, you’ll also find chains, single speed conversion kits, hubs and craqnksets. If you do not own a singlespeed bike yet, let us help you fulfill your dream of a purist bike with the parts you need for converting your bike into a singlespeed. Build rather than buy your urban speedster ot an ascetic off-roader.
Of course, we would like to offer you many excellent bike parts at this point. But a fixed gear bike is after all defined by the parts that are not there. No gearshift, no lights and definitely no mudguards or luggage rack. The original single speeds didn't even have brakes, riding without pinchers is a matter of taste (and totally forbidden, by the way)! A sturdy frame, a set of wheels, a saddle and handlebars - that's basically all your single speed bike needs! Since you need only a few components, it is possible to invest in better quality, they will make your fixie durable and low-maintenance.
Spare parts to prevent the bike blues
Even the most expensive bike will need some maintenance eventually, even the best parts will wear out at some point. Too old, too heavy or too broken – at some point you need new bike parts. Our bike parts shop offers you everything a biker's heart desires and brings your bike back on track, whether it's maintenance or an upgrade you have in mind.
Apart from brake pads, all drive train components are usually the first parts that need replacing. Bike parts like the bike chain, the cassette to the chainrings are subject to considerable wear and tear and need to be replaced from time to time depending on how often and under what conditions you ride your bike and how serious you take cleaning it afterwards. If you want to know when it's time to replace the chain, the brakes or the bottom bracket, you should listen carefully. Not to us, to your bike, that is. It will squeak or crack, or be more difficult to pedal to let you know when it's time to bring out the tool kit. Also, an accident or fall can cause a lot of damage, but doesn't necessarily mean that your bike is a heap of junk! Most parts of the drivetrain, gearshift, brakes or wheels can be repaired or replaced!
The most common bicycle breakdown: a flat tire!
You should have spare tubes with you at all times, it's best to order a few of them right away and always pack a fitting tube when you ride your bike further than you want to push it home if necessary. If you also have a mini pump at the ready, your bike will be up and running again in a few minutes. All you need is a set of tire levers, but a teaspoon will do, too.
You should check and replace these bike parts regularly:
- Brake pads: it doesn't matter whether you ride with disc brakes, rim brakes or V-brakes, the brake pads are worn down with each time you pull the brake levers. Therefore, you should check the brakes at least once a year and replace the pads if necessary. Many cyclists can replace the brake pads at home, you can order spare parts for your bike's brakes and all the tools you need to mount them, too. If you have disc brakes, you'll also have to replace the rotors, but not as often as the brake pads.
- Tubes: Many bikers replace tubers if their bike does not have a flat tire yet - the tubes are under constant pressure, that makes them porous after a while. Tires that run out of breath all the time are annoying, but a porous tube can burst at any time, so tubes should be replaced after a while to be on the safe side. Tubeless tires completely eliminate this problem, of course!
- Tires: The mileage of a bicycle tire depends on the manufacturer, the model and your riding style. If you like to make sudden stops at every red light, you'll need new tires sooner, while more careful riders usually can count on a longer service life of their tires. The surface you're riding on can also lead to more or less wear. Some bike tires have an indicator that tells you when it's time for replacement, while other tires require you to examine your tread pattern yourself from time to time. If the tire's walls (the sides) are cracked or you notice that your tires are slipping on wet surfaces because they have lost their grip, it's almost too late – and high time for a new set of tires!
- Wheels: Wheels aren't exactly known as subject to wear, but if you're riding V-brakes or rim brakes, every time you brake not only wears down the brake pad, but also gnaws on the rim. Don't worry, rims have a lot of mileage, and most rims have an indicator that tells you when they need to be replaced.
Bike parts by group
"My ...uh, yeah, what's that called again?... is broken" - you don't have to be a bike mechanic to find the right bike part on Bike Mailorder. Here, we tell you here which part belongs to where, to help you find your matching bike part!
The Basics
First of all, your bike needs a frame. The fame determines which type of bike you ride. The frame size determines for which body size a bike fits best.
There are:
- Road bike frames
- Gravel frames
- Mountain bike frames with shocks, i.e. fully suspended bikes
- Mountain bike frames without shocks, they are called hardtails
- Touring frames
- City bike frames, singlespeed frames and urban bike frames
> View our frames
The front wheel is held by a movable fork, there are rigid forks and suspended forks with built-in shocks. You need a headset to connect your frame and fork.
Of course you need a handlebar, a stem attaches the handlebar to the frame.
> View the bike parts for the cockpit
After you’ve chosen a saddle and a seat post, your bike almost looks like a bicycle.
The gearshift
Starting at the handlebars, your gear shift consist of
- cables,
- a chainring or several chainrings and
- a derailleur near the crank,
- a cassette or a set of cogs on the rear hub, there is also
- the rear derailleur.
The components for the gear shift partly belong to the drive train parts. You’ll find bike parts such as shifters, front derailleurs and rear derailleurs or cables with the groupsets.
Parts for the brake system
Again starting at the handlebars, your brake consists of
- a left and a right brake lever and
- the brake cables
From here on, you need to differentiate between rim brakes and disc brakes.
Disc (or rotor) brakes consist of
- brake discs (or rotors) mounted near the wheel hubs and brake calipers that
pinch the rotor – and decelerate the bike.
- you also need brake pads, they wear out and need to be replaced.
There are mechanical and hydraulic disc brakes and the right accessories for each.
Rim brakes brake via
- a caliper that grips the rim of the wheel.
- there are brake pads that wear out and need to be replaced.
There are also V-brakes, they work very similarly to rim brakes, only the caliper is designed slightly differently.
Bike wheels
It takes a few parts to make a bike’s wheels:
- in the middle there’s the hub
- the spokes connect the hub to the
- rim (those three parts make the wheel)
- the wheel runs on tires
- inside the tire, a tube is filled with air, unless you have tubeless tires
There is a suitable tire for each type of bike, mountain bikes of course ride on different tires than road bikes - trekking bikes need other tires than a city bike. Especially for mountain bikes you can order different tires for front and rear, or a set of tires that includes both.
In the category wheels you will find rims, complete with spokes and a hub. You have to buy wheels in the right wheel size, 12 inch wheels to 24 inch wheels are usually meant for children’s bikes. 26 inch wheels can be found on both, bigger children’s bikes and bikes for grown-ups. 27,5, 28 inch and 29 inch tires are typically found on performance bikes.
Next, you need the appropriate tires, they provide grip on the road and
protect the tube from damage.
Tubeless tires do not need an inner tube, but you need to fill the tire with sealant.
The drivetrain
The drive train of a bicycle includes all the bike parts that transmit your pedaling into speed.
These are, of course,
- pedals,
- pedal crank or crankset and
- the bottom bracket
When it comes to pedals, you can chose between flat pedals, i.e. platform pedals, or clipless pedals, a mix of both is called combination pedals.
- the chain is also part of the drivetrain and oftentimes the first part that needs to be replaced
