Which rear racks are suitable for rack bags?
You need a rack above the rear wheel, without rack bags logically don't work. By the way, your luggage rack has a maximum load that you shouldn't exceed. Depending on the manufacturer, this can be up to 25 kg or more. You should make sure that your rack has downward struts that prevent your panniers from getting into the spokes!
Many racks for trekking bikes also have a horizontal brace on each side, this is specifically for attaching a pannier.
If your bike doesn't have a permanently installed rack, however, carrying a pannier becomes difficult. A clamp-on luggage rack is rather unsuitable for bike panniers.
Get to the office clean and tidy
Do you like to cycle to work, but the office dress code rules out brightly coloured bags made from truck tarpaulin? No problem. You'll find some business bags from Vaude or AEVOR here on BMO that your boss will have absolutely no objection to! Alternatively, you can use a bikebackpack in the most chic urban design.
Bike bags for bikepacking adventures

Especially if you want to spend the night in a tent on the way, it quickly becomes a lot that is hard to imagine on a bike. But don't worry, with the right panniers you can even fit your gas stove, sleeping bag and tarp. The rack bag alone might not be enough, but there are plenty of places on your bike that are suitable for mounting a bike bag.

Secondly, these bags often have a clear pocket in sight, there you can put map or cell phone, so you won't get off right path.

Worth knowing about the rear rack bag on your bike
1. Mounting
Mounting your rear pannier is particularly easy if it has a click system from KlickFIX, Racktime or Basil . Clip on - done! Clip it off - done!
2. Color
As we all know, taste is a matter of debate. To make the selection of your bike luggage carrier bags peaceful, they come in many colors and different designs. Bright colors will definitely be seen better when you're out at dusk.
3. Material
The first luggage bags were actually made of old truck tarpaulin. The tarpaulin has remained the same, but today it is produced specifically for bicycle bags. But there are also particularly lightweight luggage carrier bags, which are then made of lightweight, durable fabric.
4. Weight
Around 1 to 1.2 kilos of own weight you have to estimate for your rear panniers, some weigh more, others less. The weight is also responsible for the fact that manufacturers gradually moved away from truck foil as a basic material. Truck Plane is indestructible, it's waterproof, but it's just heavy.
There are three sizes that are important in the context of pannier weight: The load of the bike or its gross vehicle weight rating, the load of the rack, and the load of the panniers. None of which you should exceed.
5. Bike bag capacity
Here it all depends on the model you choose. A three-piece pannier can hold up to 65 litres, while a single bike bag can hold about 25 litres. When buying, you have to look a little closer. The specifications will tell you whether the stated weight, capacity and load capacity apply to a single bag or the whole set.
6. Waterproof panniers for your bike
Manufacturers test their bags extensively, especially the closures. If they pass the test dry, they are considered waterproof. Bike pannier bags made of truck tarpaulin is usually waterproof. Other bags are often only water-repellent, you then need an additional rain cover in case of crappy weather.
7. Pannier bags on a child's bike
Clearly, if you have a rear rack bag, your kids will want one too. Here, you should definitely make sure that the bags are not too big for a small kid's bike and are well secured. Regular panniers are often too big for kiddie bikes, check out our bicycle bags for the front of the adult bike they are smaller and therefore perfect for a kids bike. You can order them in many bright colors that are sure to please the kids.
To prevent your child from lurching, two bags on the left and right of the bike are recommended, loaded evenly. But it's better not to fill them up completely, otherwise they'll become too heavy.
8. rear carrier bags on the e-bike
Any rear pannier that works on a bike can also be attached to an e-bike. You should only pay special attention to the fact that the bag sits bombproof, at the greater speeds also like to create more vibrations. A poorly fastened bike bag could fly away unplanned.
